About Me

I have a call from God that is strong and clear and just won’t quit. It is connected to my love and concern for people and deep appreciation for nature and beauty. This call has evolved throughout my life and has led me to work as a clinical social worker, chaplain and pastor. I am passionate about many things but especially about the intersection of faith, art, peacebuilding and social justice. I’ve also had the privilege of living overseas for a number of years and those experiences have impacted me in profound ways.

I am a self-taught quilter and began almost 40 years ago when I needed to find a craft that would help me de-stress. Over the years, I’ve realized how incredibly diverse this art form is and have never tired of it. Quilting can be used to make beautiful quilts for the home but it also is an art form that can tell people’s stories, speak out against injustice, help people heal from trauma, bring communities together, and inspire a different way of thinking and/or living. The process of making quilts and the actual end result all contribute to its power.

This website is an attempt to pull together my different passions and provide a space for reflection, art, and hopefully, inspiration. I see it as a two-way street of mutual support and interchange while building community. I don’t know about you but I need community — a community of people from all walks of life, all faiths, all ethnicities & cultures, who struggle to express their beliefs in and through art, in all its myriad of forms. Though many of us don’t necessarily identify as “artists,” we all have inner creativity, we all can be artists in our own way. I’m particularly interested in art that brings to life the sacred. Art that draws others out of darkness into a place of beauty and healing. That gives hope and life. Art that is honest. Art that challenges us and calls us to be better than we are.

This is an experiment. I don’t know if this blog will speak to you but I hope it does. I hope we can set out on a journey together and explore topics and support each other while being stretched and challenged as we search for what’s calling to be birthed within.

Welcome, friend. I look forward to our time together.
